••3 min readOn Joe Rogan’s podcast in January 2025, WhatsApp and other messaging platforms were discussed with the visionary founder of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg. Mark has been a leader in software messaging, continuously developing incredible features in the industry for the benefit of users, especially for Whatsapp Business.
One of WhatsApp’s key strengths is its privacy-focused end-to-end encryption and the fact that it is accessible to users across different smartphone brands. On the other hand, messaging platforms like iMessage and Google RCS are unique in their structure but have significant limitations.
iMessage is widely used among the youth. But what if your best friend or a family member uses an Android phone? What’s the right messaging platform to choose?
Google RCS messages gained popularity; however, security concerns have been raised when messaging from a Google device to an iPhone. The reason? Those messages are not encrypted—encryption is only applied when communicating between two Google phone users.
The CIA strongly recommends using encrypted apps when sharing sensitive data. Mark Zuckerberg stated that he only uses WhatsApp, Instagram, or Messenger to communicate. Joe Rogan expressed on his podcast with Lex Fridman that he would only use encrypted apps for messaging.
When Tucker Carlson was preparing to interview Vladimir Putin, the U.S. government was aware of his actions simply because he was communicating outside of WhatsApp. Allegedly, he was caught through Signal, where the government reportedly created a "backdoor" to spy on his communications with the Russian president.
Strong encryption in communication channels ensures the privacy you need and deserve. This is why WhatsApp Business is widely trusted by many companies for secure client communication. Cybersecurity professionals emphasize the need to protect personal data, making encryption essential in today’s digital world.
So, what’s the best solution for safely messaging while keeping your privacy protected? Any smartphone can have WhatsApp installed, but not every phone supports iMessage’s protocol. When it comes to messaging without limitations, WhatsApp is the solution, covering a vast percentage of the global population. Let's not forget—3.8 billion people use Meta services, making WhatsApp an ideal end-to-end encrypted communication channel.
Mark Zuckerberg also affirmed that Meta servers do not store or see the content of messages sent via WhatsApp. This is crucial for security reasons—if Meta servers stored message content, a hacker gaining access to Meta could theoretically read every user's messages. However, since WhatsApp is completely encrypted, this scenario is not possible.
